1987 Mercedes-Benz 560SL VIN. WDBBA48D3HA071427
5,549cc SOHC V8 EngineBosch Fuel Injection225bhp at 5,200rpm4-Speed Automatic Transmission4-Wheel Independent Suspension4-Wheel Disc Brakes*Stunningly beautiful Light Blue Metallic over Dark Blue livery *Highly original and well-preserved example of the high-quality, end-of-the-line 560SL*Complete with both Blue convertible top and Light Blue Metallic hard top*Timeless Mercedes-Benz Convertible with ample V8 power THE MERCEDES-BENZ R107When Mercedes redesigned its famed SL in 1971, there was a lot of equity behind it – after all, when the incomparable 300SL Coupe and Roadster were built fewer than 20 years before, they set the world on fire. The next-generation 230/250/280SL in 1963 brought Mercedes' sports car down to Earth, replacing both the incredible 300SL and four-cylinder 190SL. For the next SL, Mercedes started with the chassis of the mid-size "W114/115" model and added the motors from the large "W116" S-Class. The result was a luxurious V8 Convertible that ended up being the longest passenger car series ever produced by Mercedes-Benz to date. Despite its age, the final iteration, the 560SL, remained a prized automotive status symbol and an iconic part of the brand's lineup.THE MOTORCAR OFFEREDThis highly original example of the timeless 560SL was completed at the Mercedes-Benz Works during June of 1987. Equipped for the US market, the new SL was delivered to the first owner in Illinois by September of 1987. By 1994, with 37,000 miles recorded, the car had moved west to Oregon, where it would remain for about a decade, before moving South to California, and then later back up to Oregon, possibly under the same ownership. Service and maintenance by authorized Mercedes-Benz agencies are recorded during this time. In 2017, minor damage is noted on the CARFAX report to the left front of the car, which appears to have been expertly repaired at the time. Today this stunning 560SL presents in wonderful condition throughout, with a feel of having been exceedingly well taken care of over the years. The stunning original livery of Light Blue Metallic over a Dark Blue leather interior and matching convertible top is retained, with the original interior intact and in beautiful condition. Original preserved chrome and glass remains on the car, and the 76,753 miles on the odometer at time of cataloging is confirmed as actual by the CARFAX report. The original Becker Grand Prix tape player remains in the dash, as does the First Aid kit, and original ID plates, decals and factory markings are noticeable everywhere. Elegantly presented in the original livery, this is a high-quality Mercedes-Benz ideally suited for open top touring, with nearly all the power amenities as a modern car, yet with the elegance and style of the classic Mercedes-Benz SL.
