THE LAND ROVER 110

Rover bosses the Wilks brothers saw the need for a tough, four-wheel-drive, utility vehicle to serve the needs of the agricultural community in the immediate post-war years, but the Land Rover's runaway success took the company by surprise. During the 1970s, experiments were begun to develop a 'next-generation' Land Rover using the Range Rover's coil-sprung chassis and a new model debuted at the 1983 Geneva International Motor Show in 110" wheelbase configuration.

THE MOTORCAR OFFERED

The Defender offered is a genuine left-hand-drive 110 200Tdi Station Wagon 5-door example with over 400 hours logged in refurbishment from experienced Land Rover technicians. During the restoration, the Defender was stripped to a bare rolling shell. 5 new replacement doors were fitted as well as suspension, new bushings and brake units replaced. New exhaust, door locks and strikers along with new rubber window seals and all new LED lights were further installed. The front and rear bumper and fittings were treated to fresh gloss black powder coating. 5 new sawtooth wheels and fresh rubber were added with new black nuts and a swing out wheel carrier for the spare tire mounted on the rear. New mud flaps and brackets, new full length tubular side steps in black, and a new KBX grille system were added to finish the aggressive blacked out appearance.

The interior was tended to as well, including fully acoustic carpet lined inside and new G4 Exmoor seating in Onyx Black. The headliner was retrimmed, new door handles and locks installed, new bulkhead seals fitted, stainless steel external bolt kit and new hinges used, and gaskets replaced. A mechanical inspection and replacement of worn/unserviceable parts including full level and fluid service, a full engine service including cam belt and ancillary belts, full fluid and oil change were also completed.

It is reported to be in great driving condition and in truly impressive cosmetic order as well. A Defender of this quality will surely find a great deal of use with its next lucky owner.
