1992 BMW R100RT, 980cc. Registration number K744 MEU. Frame number 6337810. Engine number (not found) 26910135.
Sold with the V5C, keys, MOT until October 2027, receipts, various spares.
In 1991 the BMW range was extended with the introduction of the R100RT (the 'T' standing for Touring). Based on the R100GS enduro, the R100RT was an outstanding success for the Bavarian firm, its new 'retro' street model featured 18" wire-spoked wheels, old-style valve covers, a single-sided exhaust system, and a coachlined fuel tank, while the front and rear suspension now came from Showa in Japan. The R100 range ceased production in October 1994, to be replaced with the R1100 series. The purple was a 1992 only colour.
MEU wears its years well having only covered some 40,000 miles, nothing for these machines. Owned since 2018 by our vendor it has been for extended tours and he reports it is a very comfortable machine; his wife has fallen asleep on journeys on it! In 2018 the gearbox was exchanged for a reconditioned unit. It has just passed an MOT for the auction with no advisories.
