The type-964 generation of the Porsche 911 Turbo is revered for being the last version cut from the same cloth as the original 911 launched three decades prior. Though its timeless body was only mildly updated with new bumpers and taillights, the underpinnings were vastly improved.

An all-new twin-turbocharged Type M64/60 flat-six engine developed significantly more power, while the 964’s chassis featured the first major suspension redesign since the 911’s inception, ensuring that the new Turbo model was far easier to control. ‘One no longer needs to have graduated from the Hans Stuck opposite-lock academy to explore the full potential of this car’s awesome power,’ proclaimed Car & Driver magazine in May of 1993. The type-964 3.6 Turbo was only sold for the 1993 and 1994 model years, with fewer than 1,500 cars produced in total.

This US-spec example completed manufacture on 3 July 1993 finished in Midnight Blue over a Light Grey interior. It was specified with several special-order options, including blue piping on the seats, classic grey carpeting and upper leather trim. Other factory options included an electric sunroof, front seats with upgraded leather and lumbar support, stereo CD player, and polished 18-inch RS Cup wheels with coloured Porsche crests.

The car was sold new in the United States and first registered in North Hampton, New Hampshire. It would remain in the Unites States until 2008, passing through other owners in the meantime. At some point later, the car was exported to the Middle East and registered in Kuwait. In 2015, it was exported out of Dubai to Germany and registered there in November of that year. At this time, it is said that the speedometer and odometer units in miles were replaced with corresponding ones in kilometres and that the mileage accrued up to that point was then converted from miles to kilometres and applied to the new odometer unit. The car is said to have also undergone a partial cosmetic and mechanical restoration, including a respray in its factory-correct colour of Midnight Blue. In October 2022, the 911 was subject to €30,103-worth of work by Porsche Zentrum Aachen, which included an engine rebuilt (invoices are available to view on file).

Today it remains highly authentic and presentable with signs of gentle patina on the driver’s seat and gearshift lever. It is now offered with a history file that includes prior registration documents and factory manuals, including the original warranty book showing routine service carried out at Porsche dealerships.
