French, 19th century. A fine gilt bronze thermometer having a central hand painted wooden plaque dressed with a scrolled glass capillary tube, adorned to flanking pillars and decorative bronze mounts. Marked to central plate "PassementAu Louvre, Paris 1740". Approx: h. 12.5", w. 4.25".
