19TH C. NEW ENGLAND FOLK ART LARGE BLACK PAINTED EAGLE
A Striking Form, possibly off a riverboat wheelhouse, having swept back simplified wings and tail, straightened neck with open beak, truncated legs attached in period to a piece of arced iron, entirely in black enamel paint excluding a white crown and eyes, the tail inletted, the wings attached by nailed tin, the legs with raisin head nails, set on a 20th c. steel pipe stand with holed iron plate base, 16" x 34" x 11" figure, 36 1/2" tall overall. Good condition.
