19th century Japanese scroll painted with ink and colors on silk depicting a seated snarling tiger with menacing expression on its face, mouth open exposing its fangs, background showing a mountain with a waterfall. Wonderful expressive painting, superb use of color, excellent depiction of its fur and whiskers, beautiful flow to its tail. Signed OJU HOKITOKU followed by a red seal of the artist. Newer silk brocade mounts, lacquer scroll ends, in excellent condition. Painting size 44 x 16 inches, scroll size 77 x 21.5 inches.
