19th C. Bali Wood Standing Ancestral Figure

Southeast Asia, Indonesia, Bali, ca. 19th century CE. A hand-carved wooden ancestral figure standing atop an integral circular plinth. The figure has a large belt with a dangling tassel hangs in front of the fused legs, holds both arms in a praying position atop the lightly-rounded chest, and has plateaued shoulders tapering inwards to a thick neck. A circular head with a central lateral groove boasts petite button-form eyes in relief, a slender nose above a pursed mouth, and semicircular ears on either side. Size: 1.625" W x 9.4" H (4.1 cm x 23.9 cm); 10.375" H (26.4 cm) on included custom stand.

Provenance: Estate of R. Pearson, Denver, Colorado, USA; Mr. Pearson collected from the third quarter of the 20th century until he passed away.; ex-Arte Primitivo Gallery, New York, New York, USA
