19th C. Chinese Qing Leaded Brass Cloisonne Vase

East Asia, China, late Qing Dynasty, ca. 19th to early 20th century CE. A beautiful leaded brass vase presenting a sizeable form with a flared rim, a brief, narrow neck, and a bulbous body, all supported by a slender leg and circular tiered foot. A thick, horizontal band of enameled cloisonne adorns the body of the ancient vessel, displaying an elaborate motif of playing children with phoenixes and dragons surrounded by spiraling vines and flowers in vibrant hues of cyan, cobalt, burgundy, sky blue, pale yellow, white, and black. Size: 11.75" in diameter x 10" H (29.8 cm x 25.4 cm)

Provenance: private Hawaii, USA collection; ex-M. Kobiashi collection, Hawaii, USA, acquired from 1960 to 2000

Condition Report: Collection label on foot. Foot and leg filled with plaster. A few small nicks and surface wear throughout with minor losses to enamel, all commensurate with age. Abraded area to interior. Otherwise, very nice with lovely patina and great remaining pigments. Encrustations to interior.
