19th C. European Silver Horse-Head Cane Finials (3)

Western European, ca. late 19th century CE. Three finely cast 94% silver horse head finials designed to adorn walking canes. Each one presents a skillfully modeled rendering of an equine visage with a fancy bridle, and two also have red garnet inlaid eyes. The horses' heads have been cast with such an impressive level of skill and care. The largest has a cylindrical collar with an incised criss-cross pattern flanked by upper and lower relief bands of leaf motifs. A wonderful trio that exudes elegance and style, sure to be appreciated by any collector of walking canes. Size of largest (at center with collar): 1.375" L x 2" H (3.5 cm x 5.1 cm); 4.25" H (10.8 cm) on included custom stand; quality of silver: 94%; total weight: 187.3 grams - 60.3 grams (left) + 69.1 grams (center) + 57.9 grams (right)

Condition Report: All three items have very light abrasions, otherwise intact and excellent. Great patina throughout. Garnet eyes still remain on the two smaller horse head finials. There is a hallmark that reads "BA" on reins around the neck on the left side of the horse finial shown on the right side of the photo.
