19th C. Four Seasons Carved Marble Sculptures. The 19th century carved marble sculptures depicting the Four Seasons are raised on four matching excellent carved bases with cartouche shields, ribbons and fruit cluster garland. 1) Spring: Depicts a cherub with his arms reaching up and holding floral garland, surrounding his legs and feet at the base is a large floral grouping, 77 in. high. 2) Winter: Depicts a cherub with a large piece of fabric draped on his body, coming up from the base on the backside of the cherub is a tree stump, 76 in. high. 3) Summer: Depicts a cherub with a downward facing head having wheat in his hair, the right hand is raised and holding a bird that rests on his left shoulder and in his left hand is a bunch of wheat with a flower; surrounding the feet and legs at the base are bunches of wheat, 75 in. high. 4) Fall: Depicts a cherub looking down with his left arm reaching out and right arm resting on a large cornucopia; his right foot is raised on the cornucopia, 73 in. high.
