19th C. Iranian Steel Short Sword w/ Sheath

Middle East/Western Asia, Iran, ca. 19th century CE. A steel sword with a wooden handle and a thin blade sharpened on one side; also a sheath made from wood wrapped in leather with long brass tip. This tip is incised with abstract geometric motifs. The sheath was not made for this blade but is of similar origins. Size of sword: 2" W x 33.75" H (5.1 cm x 85.7 cm)

Provenance: private Los Angeles County, California, USA collection, acquired by descent from the owner's father, collection amassed between 1950-1990

Condition Report: Sheath is split near its upper end, with some losses to the leather. The brass tip is slightly indented/bent. The sword itself is in nice condition with a rich patina on all surfaces.
