19th C. Large Sized Country Blanket Box / Firewood Box in Old Blue Paint
A 19th C. square nail constructed primitive box with hinged lid in old blue finish. Originally built in or against a corner or wall it retains the old leather strap handles, but is unpainted on the right side which was the wall facing side. Measures 40" by 28" by 25" in height. The lid might be constructed of old recycled shipping crates of the period, the lid braces used square nails so long they had to be hammered over on the lid surface before painting. Very primitive a good looking piece for any early home. Box is pictured atop a furniture dolly, it sets flat on the floor, no wheels.
