19th C. Moroccan Berber Gilt Silver Arm Cuff

North Africa, Morocco, Berber culture, ca. late 19th to early 20th century CE. This is a beautiful and sizable cast silver (60% to 90.05%) arm cuff with applied openwork of gilt silver. The band center is narrow and curved, with a central faceted rivet head that secures a gilt rosette in place. The broad and squared flanges are decorated with wheel or spoke shaped gilt silver appliques secured by faceted rivets, and the four corners contain rosettes with traces of red, white, and blue pigments - likely remains from enamel inlays. The entire exterior surface of the whole cuff is decorated with stippled and incised geometric patterning, while the interior is smooth for wearing against bare skin. Condition Report: One gilt openwork disc on terminal front is slightly loose, but still secure. Minor age and use expected abrasions and dark toning. Green and blue patina within the gilt silver openwork. Intact and very good condition.
