19th C. Thai Wood & Iron Coconut Grater - Rabbit

Southeast Asia, Thailand, ca. late 19th to early 20th century CE. A hand-carved wooden coconut grater in the form of a recumbent rabbit. The reclining animal has retracted legs, a stocky body, a petite tail, and a raised head with a serrated iron grating tool held in the mouth. Traces of white and pink pigment are visible within some recessed areas, and smooth patina envelops the entire carving. Size: 19.7" L x 3.9" W x 6.375" H (50 cm x 9.9 cm x 16.2 cm)
