Cataloger Note: Elaborately carved Italian Renaissance Revival sgabello hall chair featuring a tall, sculptural backrest embellished with scrolling volutes, foliate motifs, grotesque masks, and classical figural elements. The crest is surmounted by a helmeted figure flanked by two seated putti. The shaped wooden seat is decorated with intricate incised floral and geometric patterns centered around a circular rosette. Supported by heavily carved legs featuring mythical creatures, scrolling ornamentation, and stylized paw-form feet. The richly detailed carving reflects the decorative traditions of Italian Renaissance furniture.
