19th Century Burmese Kamavaca Shwe Zawa Manuscript
Ca. 19th century Burmese Kamavaca or manuscript chest. The chest is decorated in traditional Shwe Zawa style. Chests such as this would be used to store the 16 page Kamavaca religious text recited by monks at ceremonies. The box is decorated with traditional Burmese astrological motifs such as the rabbit, crab, rat and vase of plenty.
