19th Century Capodimonte Porcelain Plaque. The rectangular plaque in a gilt wood frame, centering figures in high-relief, after Peter Paul Rubens' Diana and Her Nymphs Surprised by Satyrs. In the plaque, a satyr's face is incorporated in to the tree above the figure of Diana, in her leopard-skin robe. Another satyr dressed in a robe stands to the right. No apparent markings. Capodimonte, Italy. Mid-19th Century. {Approximate dimensions: Plaque 9 high x 17 inches wide, frame 11 3/4 high x 19 1/2 inches wide.}. Condition: Repaired break to outstretched arm, disguised as a bracelet. Frame with patina and rubbing to the gilt. Previously shot photos showing the plaque reverse are available upon request.
