19th Century Mid-Atlantic Slant Front Desk
Circa 1820-1840, cherry dovetailed case slant front desk with outstanding and unusual inlaid winged duck holding a shield. Duck with shield is mahogany, burled walnut and holley inlays. Holley string inlay to lid, drawer borders, base and key hole fittings. Four graduated drawers over scalloped apron and french feet. Appropriate replaced exterior brasses. Fitted interior with six pigeon holes and eight drawers with center door concealing three smaller drawers. Brasses have been replaced, poplar secondary wood. Fine and unusual example. 39 1/8w x 22d x 43h
