19th century Susse Freres bronze figural inkstand depicting Ambroise Pare, the bearded father of surgery, seated and wearing a ruff collar and doublet, centered on a shaped black marble base with pen holder, flanked by lidded urn-shaped bronze inkwells with liners, the sculpture marked 'AMBROISE PARE' to the front base, ‘Melingue’ in script to the right, and 'SUSSE FRES' to the back, bronze sculpture 7.5"h x 5.25"w x 4"d, overall 7.5"h x 15"w x 8"d.
