Italian carved marble bust of Sebastiano Venier, Doge of Venice, 1577-1578, depicting the bearded ruler wearing the ornamented ducal horn proper to his political office, and a cuirass decorated with the lion of St. Mark on his chest commemorating his victory as an admiral during the Battle of Lepanto in 1571, draped in a chlamys pinned on his right shoulder with a large fibula, inscribed ' SEB VENERIVS/DVX VEN' rising on a round socle base, 38.5"h x 24"w x 11"d.
