(lot of 2 binders) 19th century assorted American government ephemera, relating to George Washington Barter, former co-owner of the Anaheim Gazette and editor of the Los Angeles Star, consisting of various hand written documents from the War Department discussing Barter's appointment as a volunteer to the Office of the Quartermaster General, dated April 4, 1861; another document from the War Department discussing Barter's salary dated February 8, 1864; other documents include claims for pensions, various letters from assorted bureaucratic state and local departments across the United States, hand drawn maps, various newspaper clippings, a copy of A Catalogue of the Officers and Students of the Columbian College, D.C. 1867-68, etc.
