19th century traditional caps and bonnets: A very early embroidered bonnet or cap worked in beige, in three sections, all edges bound, European, perhaps German in design style, unlined, the stitches visible inside, blending cream and a dull brown to give definition to the design of flowers and leaves, hand stitched throughout, the front edge bound, the neck panel with wider binding through which is threaded a draw cord, to fit a young adult; together with a European girl’s velvet cap, formed in 3 sections, elaborately embroidered in metal threads to the rear and side panels, with the addition of gold metal bobbin lace and small sequins, together with a large decorative bonnet formed with wire additions to the basic cap, the whole covered with strips of gold metal thread bobbin lace. 18th – 19th centuries (3) (Shipping category D)

In good used condition with a few loose threads. The second cap is rather grubby inside.
