[ translate ]

19th/Early 20th Century Persian Qajar Molded Polychrome Ceramic Tile – Prince on Horseback Falconer Scene: This antique Persian Qajar dynasty glazed pottery tile, dating circa 1880–1920, features a molded relief depicting a young prince or aristocratic hunter riding a caparisoned yellow horse with a falcon perched on his hand, set beneath a traditional blue-ground floral scroll border. Executed in vibrant underglaze pigments with characteristic age-crazing across the glassy cream surface, the tile is presented in stable antique condition with minor peripheral glaze wear, professionally housed in a vintage wooden frame; while the visible face remains intact, the protective brown paper backing on the reverse is heavily torn and deteriorated, exposing the internal mounting. Frame Size: 14.5 x 11 in. Porcelain Plaque size: 9 x 5.25 in.

Condition
The ceramic tile is in stable antique condition with widespread, authentic fine age-crazing across the glassy glazed surface and minor inherent firing flaws typical of the Qajar period. Small chips and typical wear are visible along the exposed edges, but the central relief and underglaze pigments remain vibrant and free of major structural breaks or visible restorations. The vintage wooden frame shows minor surface scuffs, and while the tile remains securely mounted, the protective brown paper dust cover on the reverse is heavily torn.
