Roman, Imperial Period, ca. 1st to 3rd century CE. A fine pair of high-quality gold 81.4% to 84.7% (equivalent to 19K+ to 20K+) hoop earrings! Both annular shapes are, created by bending the terminals ends that taper out from the slightly crescent shaped body. Earrings like these would have been worn by high status women who would have treasured their jewelry - as this was some of the only private property elite women could own that was separate from her husband's assets. Size: 0.5" Diameter x 0.125" W (1.3 cm x 0.3 cm); gold quality: 81.4% to 84.7% (equivalent to 19K+ to 20K+); total weight: 3.3 grams
