Ancient Near East, the Levant, Canaan, Middle Bronze Age, ca. 1950 to 1539 BCE. A pair of ancient chisels / axe heads cast from copper, for shaping and cutting. During this era, items crafted from pure copper held significant value, the metal itself was probably mined in in the southern Sinai Peninsula (modern day Jordan) and traded throughout the Near East. Size: 5.75" L x 1.5" W (14.6 cm x 3.8 cm)

Provenance: private Everett, Massachusetts, USA collection acquired from Zurqieh, Dubai, United Arab Emirates in 2017.

Condition Report: Short blade is a large fragment with old loss to butt end. Surface pitting and mineral encrustations on the surfaces of both. Heavy green patina across the entire surface of longer blade.
