One small and one large dome shaped button, each embossed with "GAR" monogram, with accompanying typewritten note reading: "Buttons - from the uniform of Seth M. Flint 5th, United States Cavalry Escort bugler for Gen. U.S Grant and at the surrender of Lee at Appomattox, April 9th, 1865". Inscribed at bottom left "Worcester, N.Y. / Aug. 21, 1940" and at right "Seth Merritt Flint / October 7th, 1846". Provenance: Dr. Alan York Estate. [3/4 (dia) and 7/8 (dia) inches]. Nominal wear to gilt surface. Rust on reverse.
