2 Egyptian pottery ostraca fragments, Demotic script
A pair of Egyptian pottery ostraca fragments with Demotic script, Ptolemaic, c. 4th - 1st Century BC, one noted as being from Elephantine. One sherd with five partial lines of script visible, the other sherd with five lines of nicely handwritten script with a light varnish applied to the surface. Sizes: 2 3/4 x 2 1/2 in (7 x 6.4 cm) & 3 3/8 x 2 in (8.7 x 5 cm). Ex Massachusetts private collection acquired in the mid-1900's.
