Cartographer Alain Manesson Mallet (French, 1630-1706)."Royaume D'Ecosse" (Scotland) AND "Isle de Ceylan" (Sri Lanka, formerly Ceylon). Published in Allain M. Mallet's "Description de L'Univers." (Paris, 1683). Two miniature maps from cartographer Alain Manesson Mallet's "Description de L'Univers" (Paris, 1863) - both copper engraved and hand colored in wash and outline. One depicts Scotland and the other Ceylon. A beautiful pair of 17th century Manesson miniature maps set in matching custom frames. Size: 7.125" L x 4.875" W (18.1 cm x 12.4 cm)

Provenance: private J. P. collection, Rye, Colorado, USA; ex Bill Buffinger collection, Hollywood, California, USA
