2 NC Stoneware Pottery Jars, Craven & Crisco
Two (2) North Carolina stoneware pottery items. 1st item: North Carolina stoneware lidded pottery pot with applied strap handles stamped "J.D. Craven" below one handle for Jacob Dorris Craven, 1827-1895, Randolph and later Moore County, NC. 8" H x 10 1/4" dia. 2nd item: William Henry Chriscoe, Randolph County, North Carolina (1857-1944) salt glazed pottery jar with applied lug handles, stamped below one handle "W H CRISCO" and additional stippled number below denoting capacity. 9 1/4" H. Late 19th/early 20th century. Provenance: Private Southern Collection.
Condition Report: 1st item: Hairline emanating from rim down through body, approx. 4 1/2", minor scattered fleabites to outer rim and lid rim. 2nd item: Scattered chipping to rim and to the underside of one handle.
