(2 Pc) Antique Satsuma Vases With Heavy Gilding

DESCRIPTION: Pair of Satsuma vases each decorated with an image of a person bowing to a sovereign: one of a man bowing to a shogun and one of a woman bowing to a shogun. Each piece's image has gilded embellishments and is framed by a gilded border surrounded by gilded floral motifs against a white background. Tops of each piece just under lip is decorated with linear patterns beneath which are fan and swirl patterns framed by curvilinear borders. Bottom of piece is decorated by a gilded lattice pattern against a black background. Lip and bottom of each piece are decorated with a gilded ring. Sticker on underside of each piece is labeled with two kanji: first is for "good fortune", second is for either "eggplant" or "Nasubi".
