(2 Pc) Antique Sir Thomson's Prism Azimuths W/ Original Boxes

DESCRIPTION: Two antique prism azimuths, each designed by Sir William Thomson in the 1870s and housed in a wooden box with enclosed instructions. One piece features a brass body and was sold by optician James White in Glasgow; one is composed of a black metal body and was sold by Kelvin & Wilfred O. White Co. in Boston, MA. Each piece is finished with a liquid level. Dimensions are as follows:

Brass body - (Azimuth) H: 5.75" W: 3.5" L: 8.75" (Box) H: 6.75" W: 4.75" L: 10.25"
Black body - (Azimuth) H: 4.75" W: 2.75" L: 7.5" (Box) H: 6" W: 4.5" L: 8.75"

CIRCA: Late 19th to early Early 20th Century
ORIGIN: Scotland
