(2) RARE 1877 LETTERS FROM SHAKER ELDRESS ANTOINETTE
ALS Letters from Antoinette Doolittle (1810-1886), North Family Elderess for 36 years, "Shaker" of Mount Lebanon, NY, USA, dated Jan 31st, 1877 & Oct --, 1877. The first is a very warm letter, discussing her health and partial disability, couched in the language and fine calligraphy of the Shakers, at the end she asks for help reaching a spirit, is sending her question separately. The October letter indicates a recent return for the CITY (Albany?). She describes the death of a 17 year old girl who worked herself to death caring for her consumptive father. She refuses to give her name, saying it will be a useful 'test' when her spirit returns in a seance, not that she needs convincing, but others will. he has enclosed a note from a 20 year old girl (not here). No envelopes.
