[ translate ]

**Originally Listed At $200**

Roman, Imperial Period, ca. 1st to 4th century CE. A fine pair of glass vessels from the Roman Empire. First is a slender, mold-formed vial with a round but stable base, a drop-form body with a slight indentation around the neckline, and a cylindrical neck surmounted by a flared, in-folded rim. The largest vessel is an unguentarium with a rounded, tapered body atop a discoid foot and an upper body with a pair of trail handles connecting to the flared rim. The upper half of the unguentarium originates from a separate Roman glass vessel of a similar size and composition. Both vessels are covered in fiery layers of rainbow-hued iridescence that create an attractive presentation. Size of largest (unguentarium): 2.125" W x 4.55" H (5.4 cm x 11.6 cm); (vial): 0.9" W x 4.4" H (2.3 cm x 11.2 cm).

Provenance: private Orange County, California, USA collection, acquired before 2000

All items legal to buy/sell under U.S. Statute covering cultural patrimony Code 2600, CHAPTER 14, and are guaranteed to be as described or your money back.

A Certificate of Authenticity will accompany all winning bids.

We ship worldwide to most countries and handle all shipping in-house for your convenience.

#156611
Condition Report: The upper body and handles of footed vessel were added in later times, but material is ancient; vial is intact and very good. Both items have minor abrasions, encrustations, and micro-bubbling within glass matrices. Beautiful iridescence throughout.
