2 Vintage black velvet dresses includes a c1920 black silk velvet dress from Therese French Shop in Atlantic City features a velvet body embellished with cut work flower sprays set with black sheer silk and edged with blanket stitches running stitch leaves and stems. The embroidered accents are featured on the sleeves and on the skirt. The dress has a sheer black silk yoke also with applied blanket stitching and unique ruched sleeves with exaggerated elbows and 6 button closures. As well as a large silver tone and rhinestone accent at the waist. The skirt features a sheer hem line also applied with blanket stitching. Laying flat the dress measures: shoulders 14'', bust 19'', sleeves 25'', waist 17'', length 43.5''. The dress is in fair condition with tearing and shredding to the sheer silk, loss of the ruching stitches on the left side sleeve, fading to several velvet covered buttons, heavy shredding/fraying to the silk tape trim on the sleeve cuffs. Along with a vintage c1940 dress featured a black velvet body, full length A line skirt, an empire waist, and long sleeves with shoulder pads. But the real star of the show is the heavily embellished collar which may have been reused/salvaged from an older garment from the late teens or early 20's. It features a gold tone metallic weave base and flower and vine motifs in a mix of embroidered running stitches, purple and mauve seed beads, and embossed domed marquise and round shaped brass accents. The now gold tone metal accents were once painted a robins egg blue and turquoise. The dress has a metal side zip closure and laying flat it measures: shoulder 17.5'', bust 19.5, sleeves 25.5'', waist 15.5'', length 59''. The dress is in good condition with wear to the collar, including loss of the gold tone finish, light splitting/fraying at the inner neck, and paint loss to the applied metallic accents. If you have any doubt, please ask questions! We will provide extra pictures, or can schedule an in person or video conference preview at your convenience. In house Flat Rate Shipping of $20 is a domestic shipping estimate for first lot and includes insurance. We will gladly combine multiple lots for your convenience and economy.
