Press books for two ground-breaking films starring Asian-American actors, the second being the first cinematic depiction of the Japanese-American internment of World War II.

"The Crimson Kimono" was the debut of actor James Shigeta, who played a Japanese-American detective - the first Asian actor without a broken English accent chosen for such a role - in an inter-racial romance with a Caucasian woman. "Hell To Eternity", about a Los Angeles Hispanic youth raised in the 1930s by a Japanese American foster family, included scenes in which his foster parents are sent to the Manzanar internment camp, the first movie treatment of the "relocation" nearly twenty years after the sad fact. The star's Japanese "brother" in the movie, who goes on to serve in the "Go For Broke" Japanese-American regiment, was played by the real-life first Japanese-American graduate of West Point. Both his and Shigeta's parents suffered wartime internment.
