Title: Two sermons
Place Published: Boston
Publisher:J. and T. Fleet
Date Published: 1768-1769
Description: 3 items. (8vo) disbound. First Editions. Comprising:
Ministers Considered as Fellow-Workers, Who Should be Comforters to Each Other, In the Kingdom of God. A Sermon Preached Before the Ministers of the Province of the Massachusetts-Bay in New England... 1768.
The Two Following Sermons: Gospel Condition of Salvation. & On the Nature and Necessity of the Father's Drawing such as come unto Christ... 1769. (2 copies)
Little is known about Tucker but there are several titles credited to him in Shipton & Mooney. In the earlier work, Tucker encourages ministers to support each other, and reminds them of what their priorities should be. He felt ministers had to be involved in the "affairs of life", but they shouldn't forget to be "faithful to Christ". At the outset of the later work, Tucker seems to take a literal interpretation of the New Testament, but some of the content presents a more flexible view on religious thinking.
Condition Report: One item with corner missing on half-title; wear, some pages detaching, dampstaining, other staining; overall good.
