2 old stone axes - Boiken area (stone age tools)
- such large basalt stone axes were used throughout the Boiken area by the various groups of indigenous Boiken there.
These huge specimens, the large axe is a full 63 cm in height (or length) and 8. 2 cm in width, were probably used more for ceremonial purposes. It shows some damage, such as a dry crack in the face area and a slightly loose blade! The bird is rarely found at the end of the axe!
The smaller axe is only about 50 cm in height, but has a beautifully ground basalt blade.
