2002 Argiolas, Turriga - Sardinia - 1 Magnum (1.5L)

red wine Isola dei Nuraghi Rosso Turriga from the Argiolas winery is the flagship product of the Sardinian winery. The vineyards are located in the heart of the province of Cagliari, on calcareous soils, full of stones and pebbles. This winery represents the reference point of the Sardinian winemaking tradition, with a quality production based on tradition and innovation. Created in 1988 by the famous Giacomo Tachis - one of the protagonists of the Italian wine renaissance in the 1960s, who a few years earlier had been invited by the Cantina Sociale di Santadi to make Terre Brune and who at the beginning of the new millennium gave another pearl to this land, Barrua - is a skilful blend of some of the main Sardinian red grape varieties, varying in percentages depending on the year, and a small addition of black malvasia. The production of Turriga starts with the manual harvest which takes place between October and November. Immediately after, a separate vinification for the different grapes and a fermentation at a controlled temperature follows. This is followed by maturation in French oak barriques for 18-24 months and then a long refinement in the bottle. When tasted, Turriga immediately reveals itself to be a wine of great finesse, noble in its aromas: the body is agile, structured, but without excesses and therefore not heavy. Turriga is a wine where the softness conferred by alcohol and sugar alcohols is well balanced with the hardness of freshness and flavor, capable of guaranteeing a long life if well preserved in the cellar, and tannins, present but very pleasant.
