20021: Cut Sheet of Four Fr. 141 $20 1880 Legal Tender

Cut Sheet of Four Fr. 141 $20 1880 Legal Tender PMG Choice Uncirculated 64 (3); PMG Gem Uncirculated 65 EPQ. Incredibly rare as a Cut Sheet with all four notes extremely well-matched. Slightly dissimilar margins likely account for the Choice Uncirculated 64 grades on the B, C, and D Position notes, although they certainly do not look out of place alongside the Gem A position note. Cut Sheets were a collecting specialty forty or fifty years ago, but so many have been broken up for single notes that it has become impossible today to locate an uncut sheet. These notes have the bonus of all having a courtesy autograph of Daniel N. Morgan, Treasurer of the United States from 1893-1897. We have only sold one other cut sheet of this Friedberg number that was in slightly nicer condition but did not have courtesy autographs in our 2017 FUN Currency Signature auction, where it crossed the auction block for $11,162.
