20024: Fr. 225 $1 1896 Silver Certificates Uncut Sheet

[ translate ]

Fr. 225 $1 1896 Silver Certificates Uncut Sheet of Four PMG About Uncirculated 55. Tonight, we are pleased to offer the only uncut sheet reported bearing the scarcer Bruce|Roberts signature combination. While three Fr. 224 uncut sheets are reported for the $1 Educationals, this has always been the only uncut sheet recorded for Fr. 225. The $1 Educational Series has always been popular with collectors, offering a wealth of historical details in its design. This wonderful sheet traces its pedigree to the Christies sale of Richard Saffin's collection in 1982 and from there to the Herman Halpern collection, sold by Stacks in 1993. It has been held since that time by our present consignor. This sheet presents quite a striking appearance with superb colors and margins, and the full top and bottom selvedge with the engraver's initials and plate numbers. This piece has been assigned a "55" grade for folds between each of the notes but they are not obvious and do not intrude upon the notes themselves. PMG has commented about a minor selvedge repair which appears to be nothing more than a closed edge split. Now available for the first time in 27 years, this is a wonderful item fit for the finest of collections. From the Monarch Collection HID03101062020 © 2020 Heritage Auctions | All Rights Reserved
