Fr. 268 $5 1896 Silver Certificate PMG Superb Gem Unc 67 EPQ. The allegorical theme on the $5 Educational is Electricity Presenting Light to the World, also known as Electricity as the Dominant Force in the World. The design, featuring Electricity personified at center holding a lighted bulb illuminating several other allegorical figures, was adapted from a painting by Walter Shirlaw. Gorgeous detail graces this nicely printed, well-margined example, displaying great color. Not common in this state of preservation, this is one of only six pieces graded at this lofty level by PMG, with none finer. It has been off the market since a 1996 Smythe sale.
