2004 Porsche Carrera GT

Internally dubbed SCM (Super Car Millennium), the development of the Carrera GT prototype was shrouded in secrecy with just a small team of designers and engineers responsible for the project. Expected to be a 'one off' design and prototyping exercise, they chose an exotic 5.5-liter V10 from an aborted racing project to power the concept car. So fantastic was the reaction to this prototype driven along the Champs-Élysées to the 2000 Paris Motor Show that the approval of a production version became a foregone conclusion. To no one's surprise, the Carrera GT became the standout supercar of the 2000s, employing a more analog engineering approach that benefited from over a decade's worth of engine development.
Featuring a normally aspirated 5.7-liter V10, the Carrera GT powerplant first began as an engineering exercise to stay current with Formula One's new engine rules after their all-new (Typ 3512) 3.5-liter normally aspirated V12 failed to impress in 1991. Later, this engine was selected for use in Porsche's LMP2000 sports racing prototype program (Typ 9R3), and enlarged to 5.5-liters to race at the 24 Hours of Le Mans. Surprisingly, the promising LMP2000 racing program for this engine was ultimately abandoned, but this special V10 engine, underutilized for so long, would soon find the ultimate application in the Carrera GT.
Built in 2004, this US-market Carrera GT, limitation number 0296, was sold by New Country Porsche in Greenwich, Connecticut, spending its first years in the northeast with periodic usage and regular servicing noted on the vehicle's CARFAX. Records indicate this Porsche remained with the first owner until 2009 before passing to the second owner, a collector based in the Northeast with whom this car remained for over a decade. Thereafter it made its way to Florida, where it was sold by Prestige Imports of North Miami in 2020 with 1,727 miles. During its time in Florida, this Carrera GT received maintenance work at Champion Porsche in Pompano Beach and The Collection in Coral Gables. While at The Collection in 2020, both the engine and transmission were removed from the car in order to properly diagnose/repair both crankshaft sensors and impulse senders. After this work, it received a complete Porsche Multi-Point Inspection shortly before it was sold through Prestige Imports of North Miami, Florida in May of 2021 to the supercar's fourth and current owner.
Perhaps inspired by the artistry seen in Porsche's Carrera GT recommission of 2019 and recent 'one-off' Sonderwunsch projects, the consignor decided to deviate from the expected by putting his own personal touches on this Carrera GT with the help of a Porsche Classic Partner. Arriving at Porsche North Houston in January of 2022, this Carrera GT entered the care of some of the country's leading Porsche Classic experts to begin the transformation process to a stunning (and likely unique for a Carrera GT) Speedster Blue, offered only on the 356 'Pre-A' Speedster in 1954 and 1955. A refinish in this rarely seen shade of blue, color-to-sample for this special project, was completed at a total cost of over $75,000, which also included finishing all four center-lock wheels in a subtly darker finish, perfectly complementing the Dark Grey leather interior. Additionally, a full body paint protection film (PPF) wrap provides further piece of mind while protecting this unique finish.
Developing 603 horsepower, the V10-powered Carrera GT was offered exclusively with a six-speed manual transmission laid within a carbon fiber monocoque chassis for a world-renowned analog driving experience and one of the most intoxicating exhaust notes this side of a race track. Offered with 2,262 miles at the time of cataloging, this car not only offers an experience free from electronic driving aids for an unmatched level of visceral feedback but the ability to do so in a unique color, unlikely to be seen on another Carrera GT. Receiving no shortage of praise, the Carrera GT is regarded by many as the finest analog supercar extant, representing the peak of an unrepeatable era that provided the world with some of the greatest driver's cars ever conceived.
