DESCRIPTION: Producer: Vigneti Massa Wine: Cerreta Vintage: 2004 Number of Bottles: 6 Size: 0,75 Aging: 22 months in new barrique Alc. : 14,5% alc. Cerreta from the Vigneti Massa winery in Tortona is an intense and elegant Piedmontese red, which is made with a skilful blend of the red grape varieties historically widespread on the hills around Tortona. It is an area of great traditions, which in recent decades has been experiencing a period of new interest thanks to original and stubborn winemakers, who have been able to believe in the potential of the territory and native vines. The long aging in barrique gives the wine evolved and complex tertiary aromas, which go alongside a full-bodied and rich fruit. Cerreta wine is produced by one of the most important protagonists of the rebirth of the Tortonesi Hills area. Walter Massa, since the 1970s, has believed in quality viticulture and in the enhancement of the vines of his land. The Vigneti massa estate is located in Monleale at an altitude of about 300 meters above sea level, on medium-textured clay-limestone soils. The vineyards are conducted with ancient peasant wisdom, with low yields and limiting treatments to a minimum. The work in the cellar follows absolutely artisanal practices, with the utmost attention to the raw material. Walter Massa's goal is to produce genuine and genuine wines, true expressions of the varietal characteristics of the grapes and the territory of origin. Wines without mediations or compromises, to be loved at the first sip, without hesitation. Cerreta Vingeti Massa is the son of the creativity of Walter Massa, who decided to create a great red, using the varieties historically present in the area. Fermentation takes place using only indigenous yeasts. The wine ages for a period of 22 months in new barriques before being bottled. In the glass it has a rather intense ruby red color. On the nose it releases subtle aromas of aromatic herbs, spicy sensations, aromas of red berry fruit and refined balsamic hints. On the palate it denotes a good structure, with a soft and complex sip, tannins well integrated with the body of the wine. The aromas are evolved and intense and spread out in a very harmonious way towards a long, persistent finish with a pleasant balsamic freshness.
