CHAPELLE CAHMBERTIN GRAND CRU 2005 DOMAINE TRAPET PERE ET FILS

PARKER 92/100
VINOUS 93/100
3 out of 3 stars for La Revue du vin de France
"Attentive and sensitive producer, convinced follower of biodynamics, Jean-Louis Trapet has positioned the family estate very high. All cuvées are also successful, large and small vintage, with a respect for the terroir worthy of praise and in a style that honors Burgundy.

About the domain
Jean-Louis Trapet has the face of serene men. Of those who know that "men pass and that the earth remains". And because wine is only sharing and transmission, the legacy of his great-great-grandfather Louis, who founded the estate in 1870, has remained alive.

Today, it is he who watches over the 15 hectares of vineyards, among the best located on Gevrey, and who preserves this treasure of which he is only the depositary: three grands crus (Chambertin, Chapelle-Chambertin and Latricières-Chambertin) , two premiers crus (Petite Chapelle and Clos Prieur) , and also plots on Marsannay and classified in the Burgundy appellation.

Since 1995, the entire estate has been conducted in biodynamics: purified of any violent action in the vineyards as well as in the cellar, respectful of balances, this approach is based above all on observation. Accompany the vine to make it grow while protecting it. Aging marks a decisive step at Trapet: once the winemaking has been completed (the least interventionist there is) , the wines are descended to the cellar and singed to evolve slowly, at their own pace, throughout the winter.

An area to know absolutely for any lover of Burgundy wines, and especially pinots noirs from the Côte de Nuits

About the cuvée

Around the Chambertin and Chambertin-Clos-de-Bèze gravitate the wines of Chapelle-Chambertin. The wines find the same characteristics of solidity, power and fullness, with a hint of licorice that makes it possible to differentiate them. Chapelle-Chambertin covers a little more than 5 hectares and owes its name to the chapel built in 1155 by the religious of the Abbey of Bèze, a stone's throw from the Clos de Bèze, which was razed during the Revolution.
Classified as Grand Cru, the appellation produces only red wine. Aromas of small red and black fruits, notes of black cherry, bitter chocolate, licorice and truffle: these are the characteristics of this wine that is appreciated on its youth or beyond 15 years.
