2006 Ford GT

[ translate ]

Chassis No. 1FAFP90S36Y400260
As the Ford Motor Company approached its centenary in 2003, senior management opted to commemorate the occasion by introducing three new retro-inspired models, the previous iterations of which had been instrumental in the company's commercial and public relations success. The newly relaunched Mustang and Thunderbird models manifestly fell into the former category, but it was the era-defining, Le Mans-conquering GT40, a car of immeasurable PR value, yet of negligible direct commercial benefit, which inspired the strategy's centerpiece: the Ford GT.
First shown as a concept car at the Detroit Motor Show in November 2002, production approval for the GT was granted shortly thereafter. Overseen by Chief Designer Camilo Pardo, the new car's silhouette was unmistakably GT40, yet underneath it employed a contemporary aluminum spaceframe chassis and a part-aluminum, part-superplastic body; both being significant technical departures from its inspiration. Power was provided by a 550 horsepower supercharged version of Ford's modular 5.4-liter V8 engine, to which a six-speed Ricardo transaxle was mated; resulting in a top speed of 205 mph and a 0-60 mph time of just 3.3 seconds. Elsewhere, sympathetically updated GT40 design cues were incorporated; the twin-nostril front cowl, perforated seats, and circular rear lights being but three examples.
Originally distributed to main dealer Future Ford of Concord, California, this magnificent GT retains its factory color scheme of Metallic Tungsten Grey with two racing stripes and Ebony leather interior. Specified with all four factory offered options, including lightweight forged aluminum wheels, body-color brake calipers and a McIntosh Radio / CD system, the car was delivered to its first owner in Woodland Hills, California, in 2007.
Throughout her ownership, the car was evidently used only very occasionally and, aside from the application of a non-standard carbon fiber laminate material to the dash, interior door panels, and transmission tunnel, is understood to have been kept in otherwise factory specification. Indeed, when the car was acquired by the Fleischman Collection in May 2017, it had covered just over 300 miles from new; a figure which has increased only marginally, showing fewer than 450 miles at the time of cataloging.
Since entering the Fleischman Collection, and in view of the negligible mileage covered, the car has required only very limited maintenance, the purchase of four new Goodyear Eagle F1 tires in May 2017 being a noteworthy item. In January 2022 the GT was serviced at Santa Monica Ford Lincoln, during which it received an oil and filter change and multi-point inspection, while a factory airbag recall was attended to.

Boasting a unique combination of Le Mans-winning heritage, razor-sharp performance, and Ford practicality, the GT remains one of the true great supercar “all-rounders”. In the case of this magnificent example, these formidable qualities are supplemented by its two-owner, ultra-low mileage status; thereby rendering it arguably one of the most attractive and compelling examples we have come across.
