20094: Fr. 2221-E $5,000 1934 Federal Reserve Note. PMG

[ translate ]

Fr. 2221-E $5,000 1934 Federal Reserve Note. PMG About Uncirculated 55. A most attractive example of a Richmond $5,000 that has excellent visual appeal for an About Uncirculated note. The note is sequential to the PMG 63 offered here this evening. The tones are different, presumably due to the other example being a replacement. This example features a bold light green overprint and fancy low serial number 77. With an original print run of only 2,400 notes, Richmond is tied with three other districts for the fewest printed and issued examples for 1934 $5,000 FRNs. In our 2019 Central States auction, we sold an identically graded example, which had a comment about minor restoration, for $144,000. This pretty note is a solid example that is housed in a comment-free holder. HID03101062020 © 2020 Heritage Auctions | All Rights Reserved
