2013 Mercedes-Benz S550 Sedan

[ translate ]

Description: 2013 Mercedes-Benz S550 Sedan Chassis: WDDNG9EB4DA495227, odometer reading: 88,509; black exterior, and saddle/light brown leather interior.

Provenance: Estate of William J. Godfrey

Other Notes: This Mercedes-Benz "S"-class model, like most of its precursors since 1971, has had much praise lavished upon it. By sheer sales volume, it is one of the world's most popular luxury saloons and this particular example comes fully equipped and benefits from the useful four-wheel drive option.

For many years the Mercedes-Benz "S"-class has been the world's best-selling luxury saloon and in 2007, "Car and Driver" magazine voted this particular W221 S-class to be the best out of five competing luxury saloons.

The W221 was first shown at the Frankfurt Motor Show in late 2005 and was introduced to the US market in January of 2006. The model was given a "facelift" in 2009 when the easily distinguishable LED running lights were added.

Depending on which particular arcane view one subscribes to, the model W221 iteration (built between 2005 and 2013) is either the fifth or ninth generation "S"-class ("Sonderklasse", special class) Mercedes-Benz. Regardless of which view is taken on the matter, the W221 was incredibly popular and Daimler was able to sell around 500,000 units of the W221 in eight years. The present car is one of the last ones of this type and it may safely be assumed that it still has a long and useful life ahead of it.

Condition: This S-class saloon is in Very Good Condition. This model represented the pinnacle of luxury motor car construction when it was new. The present vehicle benefits from the Mercedes-Benz 4-Matic four-wheel-drive system.

The black exterior paint combined with the tan leather interior is a classic and very desirable color combination for this model.

PAINTWORK is in good condition. Gapping is consistent. Some scratches to the top of the trunk lid, rear bumper, and driver's door.

METAL is sound throughout, as is expected. The driver's door shows minor dings.

WHEELS/TIRES are in average condition. The rims show curbing damage.

INTERIOR: the tan leather and floor carpets are in good condition throughout. Driver's seat and center armrest show signs of wear consistent with mileage. There is a red spot on the rear seat and the carpet behind the driver's seat.

ENGINE runs well. The car was in regular use. All functions work satisfactorily.

*** Notice to bidders: The absence of a condition report does not imply that an object is free of defects or restoration. Condition reports are prepared by request on a 'first come, first served' basis. For more information please read paragraph #9 of Terms and Condition of Sale.
