Lot details Registration No: T.B.A Chassis No: WBY2Z22020VX65297 MOT: October 2024 Just 36,800 miles from new and in current ownership since 2018 Documented service history on the in-car BMW iDrive Finished in Sophisto Grey Metallic paintwork with full Ivory White perforated leather interior upholstery One of the world’s most popular electric-hybrid sports cars and, now out of production, something of a modern classic! PLEASE NOTE: This lot is currently going through a registration change and the plate displayed on the vehicle is not included. These days, every major motor manufacturer has to have hybrid or all-electric models in the range, and in BMW's case the company even went so far as to launch a new brand – BMW i – to promote these more environmentally friendly cars. Flagship of the range, the i8, was first seen in concept form at the 2009 Frankfurt Motor Show, with the production version going on sale in April 2014. A plug-in hybrid, the i8 is powered by a 1.5-litre three-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine driving the rear wheels, and an electric motor located within the front axle assembly. Maximum outputs are 228bhp and 139bhp equivalent respectively, giving the i8 simply remarkable acceleration - 0-60mph in under 4.4 seconds - and an electronically limited top speed of 155mph. Built around a carbon fibre reinforced passenger cell, the svelte Coupé body boasts 'butterfly' doors and has a commendably low drag coefficient, reducing fuel consumption at high speeds, whilst a selection of driving modes helps manage the competing requirements of speed and economy. As discreet as a bicycle when dawdling along under electric power yet seriously quick at the flick of a switch. Manufactured at the Leipzig BMW plant, the i8 offered was supplied new to the United Kingdom and first registered on the 5th of November 2014. Finished in BMW Sophisto Grey Metallic (C23) paintwork with Ivory White full perforated leather interior upholstery, the i8 was optioned with a larger-capacity fuel tank; tyre pressure indicator; velour floor mats; warning triangle; storage compartment package; heated electric seats; Blue seatbelts; park distance control; interior lights package; driving assist; professional sat-nav with real time traffic updates; head up display; intelligent emergency call; and enhanced Telephony facility. In current ownership since 2018, the i8 has been used sparingly and has now covered just 36,800 miles from new. With a documented service history on the in-car iDrive, the i8 has benefitted from five services (in accordance with the service schedule), the most recent of which was completed in May 2022 at 35,257 miles. Supplied with the tyre puncture kit, a current V5C document, and a no advisory MOT certificate until October this year, the BMW has had no advisories across its whole life. One of the world’s most popular electric-hybrid sports cars and for all the right reasons these fast, great looking, and comfortable sports cars paved the way for more eco-friendly alternative transport and, now out of production, are becoming something of a modern classic. Swerve the rapidly expanding emission control zones in towns and cities across the country in this rather stylish sports car.
