Based in North America, and sanctioned by the International Motor Sports Association, the series is now called the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship. The 911 GT America was based on the Porsche 911 GT3 Cup racer of the day, chassis code 991-830. It featured lightweight bodywork with aluminum-and-steel composite construction, a fuel safety-cell with quick-fill connection, a color Cosworth dash display, and a rescue opening in the roof to allow use of a Kendrick extrication device in the event of a crash. Power came from a 470-horsepower, 4.0-liter, flat-six racing engine with electronic throttle control. The six-speed sequential transmission featured a pneumatic paddle-shift system, while the braking system featured 15-inch, slotted, vented, steel brake rotors, with six-piston aluminum fixed calipers at the front and four-piston calipers at the rear. A factory-supplied endurance package included quick-release couplings for all brake calipers, a fast-fill refueling system for engine oil, and an oil-level display.Sold exclusively in North America by Porsche Motorsport North America, Inc., deliveries of the 911 GT America began in late 2013 to teams committed to running the entire 2014 USCR season. The car was sold at a price of $269,000, which included shipping and a parts package. They proved exceedingly rare from the outset: a mere 15 of the 2014 model year were sold, and just one for the 2015 model year, according to Porsche Cars North AmericaTHE MOTORCAR OFFEREDThis unbelievable 2014 Porsche 911 GT America Cup, also called "Lucy", was previously owned by Patrick Dempsey, and is the fastest Porsche ever to climb the legendary Pikes Peak International Hill Climb, in just 9:23.721, thereby earning the second fastest time overall. It is based off a very rare GT America (only 15 of these were built), making Lucy an ultra-rare creation, boasting a whopping 1100 hp! Professionally modified and prepared by the well-known BBi Autosport in Huntington Beach, where countless hours were spent building this car with passion, love, and no expenses spared, and with the goal to be the fastest Porsche ever to climb Pikes Peak. According to the owner, Lucy ran Daytona once, and participated in other notable endurance races. It is powered by a 3.8-liter GT3 Cup engine, runs on E85 fuel, automatically adjusts for race E85 or pump E85 and is heavily modified with twin turbo chargers. It also features custom electronics to automatically adjust for altitude – the engine made approximately 900 rear wheel horsepower (1,000-1,200 at the crank) at 9,000 ft. altitude. Although it was never tuned for sea level, it should make substantially more horsepower there, it can easily be retuned via electronics. The car also features adjustable ABS brakes from PFC, electronically adjustable traction control, a Porsche factory sequential 6 speed gear box (approximately 10 hours run time) with paddle shifters, JRZ Custom real time adjustable suspension, as well as conventional KW suspension with special set up by Romaine Dumas. It has 3 sets of current wheels and tires (1 new set), with all the body work specially designed for high down force. It also includes a new hood, air intake, custom front fenders, custom splitter, custom under tray, rear quarters changed to factory GT2RS quarters for wider wheels and tires as well as aero, and custom-built rear wing and uprights. With aero adjustment and tuning for sea level, this car would be a serious PCA/POC weapon. The current owner ran Festival of Speed this year, and was only 1 ½ seconds slower than the fastest cars there, with Lucy limited to 130 mph.The car comes with lots of spares, previous body work, rotors and pads, extra shocks, multiple wheel and tire sets, basically a 28' trailer full of spares. The current owner will also supply the original electronic tuners' info. This is a unique opportunity to own not just one of the 15 Porsche America GTs ever built, but the fastest one!
